Not many more sleeps!

Can you believe that we only have two weeks to go? This year seems to have gone very quickly and very soon, the children will be moving on to their next year group. The class organisation for next year is being finalised, and you should be informed of this through your child’s annual report, which you will receive on Friday.

As you can appreciate, the staff take a great deal of care and time to compile these reports, as they are a record of your child's achievements throughout the course of the year. Please take 5 minutes to complete the reply form which will be included with report, as we do really appreciate your responses.

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, we have our New Starters coming into school for the first time for their visits. This means that our current Foundation Stage children will be joining us for a taste of Year One. Also, it will soon be time for our Year 2's to venture across the hall to the Land of the Giants, so they will be having a couple of taster days in the Juniors this week.

As we are in the final two weeks, we are updating lots of information to pass up to the next teacher, including high frequency words, number work and two pieces of independent writing, which will form the first pages of a book called ‘The Big Write’. This book will stay with your child as they move throughout the school, and will contain examples of their writing from Years 1 and 2 all the way to Year 6. They will be amazed at home much they can improve throughout this time!

If you have any outstanding library books or are gathering a collection of reading books at home, could we please ask that these are returned this week, so that we can review our stock levels, which are somewhat depleted at the moment! Under pillows and beds seem to be a favourite place for storing books at the moment!

As we have now obviously begun our long-overdue Summer, please send a hat and plenty of water into school with your child. If you apply suncream in the morning before they come to school, they will only need to reapply it at lunchtime.

Have a good week and long may this beautiful weather continue!

Year 1/2 team
