Well, we really are hurtling towards the end of another
successful year, but that doesn't mean we are slowing down and there is still
lots to get through.
Literacy
We will be updating any final assessments, ready to pass
up to the next class teacher, as well as finalising any information which you
receive in your child's end of year report next week.
Could we please ask that if you have any outstanding
reading or library books, then they are returned to school by the end of this
week, so that our stock levels may be checked.
Maths
This week in Maths we will be reviewing Capacity.
Year 1 children will compare two or more capacities by
direct comparison and measure capacities using uniform non-standard units.
Year 2 children will estimate a capacity, recording
estimates; read a simple capacity scale and estimate, measure and compare
capacities in litres and millilitres.
Encourage your children to look at items at home which
have a measure of capacity on them, especially those recorded in millilitres.
Get them to compare and estimate amounts.
Some websites to help:-
Topic
The children will study and discuss the
various minibeasts to be found in the locality. We are
going to go into the allotment to see what creepy crawlies we can find. They
will identify and categorise each one, looking at insects, spiders, worms and
so on. They then will choose one for a close observation drawing. This will
link into the work of continuing ECO Week!
FOSV Disco
There will be a KS1 disco on Thursday from
6.00-7.30pm. Since this is at the same time as the 5/6 team will be returning
from Alton Towers, could we please request that you DO NOT drive onto the
school premises, for the safety of ALL our children. Many thanks for your
co-operation in this matter.
FOSV Summer BBQ
This takes place this Friday from 5.30
onwards. Please check your child's bag for any YELLOW tickets that have already
been distributed. Remember you can still pay on the door.
Enjoy your week!
Year 1/2 team
